DETROIT – Tickets are now on sale for the TEDxDetroit conference on Oct. 6, a day-long conference set to gather Detroit’s budding and booming entrepreneurs, educators, entertainers, scientists, technologists, artists and more. Last year more than 3,000 people attended.

“TEDxDetroit is all about inspiration! Thousands of people from all walks of life will gather to share stories, ideas and inventions that ignite creativity and challenge us to rise above the status quo,” said Janet Tyler, executive producer of TEDxDetroit and COO of Red Level Networks. “Whether you are inspired to pursue your own idea, or simply walk away with a refreshed perspective on Detroit, attendees are guaranteed a rousing once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

TED stands for technology, entertainment and design – three fields that inspire and drive innovation across all sectors of the economy – and guests can expect a mix of these industries set to a scene of a business expo, art festival, tech conference and revival, all in one.   Featuring TED talks, live entertainment, local brands and products, a live feed from TEDx conferences across the globe and hands-on, interactive labs, attendees can expect to immerse themselves in an experience unlike any other.

Previous conferences have featured notable speakers, including innovators like Dr. Cathy Olkin of NASA’s New Horizons Mission on Pluto, Paul Elio of Elio Motors and Jim Murphy of Pixar Animation Studios, entrepreneurs from Asia Newson of Super Business Girl and Pashon Murray of Detroit Dirt to Veronika Scott of The Empowerment Plan and Dan Gilbert of Quicken Loans, journalists like Lee Thomas and Aaron Foley, artists such as Alicia Michilli and JR JR, formerly Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., as well as TV personalities such as Dr. Partha Nandi of “Ask Dr. Nandi” and Les Gold of “Hardcore Pawn.”

In 2009, TEDx launched in major cities across the country. Detroit was among the first, to shine a light on the entrepreneurs, innovations and artists in the region. Bringing together “charged particles” to create new connections and collaborations, TEDx asks its speakers “if you had eight minutes to share an idea with the world, what would you share?”

Admission to the 2016 TEDxDetroit conference is open to the public. Advance tickets for the event are available online for $85. Tickets will be available at the door for $100.

The 2016 schedule of speakers will be announced in early September. For more information, visit www.tedxdetroit.com.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
