SOUTHFIELD – During a webinar on Feb. 16, Rosemary Bayer, Michigan Council for Women in Technology Executive Director will discuss how volunteering can help advance your career and your skill-set.

From networking and leadership opportunities to increased responsibilities in your areas of interest, volunteerism can be a way to take your professional journey to a new level in 2016. Rosemary will discuss MCWT’s structure, its events and activities, and the various opportunities available to engage at MCWT today.

Rosemary co-founded the MCWT Foundation. She also is co-founder and chief inspiration officer of ardentCause L3C, a technology company serving nonprofits by providing information solutions and accessible data for operations, reporting and decision-making. Bayer spent 25 years in IT at Sun Microsystems, Amdahl and Control Data Corporation, starting as a computer systems engineer and inventor to managing a 70-person team across 15 countries.

Rosemary is a board member of NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work) and volunteers at a number of nonprofits. She regularly speaks on the topics of community leadership, social enterprise and earned income for nonprofits.  Rosemary was also lead instructor for the Michigan Inforum ACTiVATE program for two years, an educational program designed to help women start technology companies. She earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Lawrence Technological University.

The webinar is Tuesday Feb. 16 from noon to 1 pm.
